Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg came into the 2015 college football season with quite a few rumors swirling that he could be a first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. After the struggles that he has been having this season, those rumors have come to a stop and he is now playing simply to have a chance at getting drafted in any of the seven rounds.
Hackenberg definitely has the skill-set to become an NFL quarterback, but consistency is a major issue for him.
Throughout the 2015 season to this stage of the season including this past week’s Northwestern game, Hackenberg has thrown for 1,992 yards, 13 touchdowns and three interceptions. Those numbers are not going to cut it for a player like Hackenberg with the hype that was surrounding him.
There are quite a few issues with his game, but they are all very fixable if he puts the time and effort in.
One of the biggest bloopers from this week in college football did include Hackenberg. He dropped back to pass and proceeded to sling a pass directly into a referee’s face.
