Alabama, Clemson in title game in latest bowl projections

This past week of football was a wild one as four previously undefeated teams fell, leaving us with only five undefeated teams from Power Five conferences. There have been a number of bowl projections already this season from ESPN’s Mark Schlabach and Brett McMurphy and it seems like they are finally starting to agree on somethings.

In their latest bowl projections, the pair of analysts have Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, and a Big 12 team (Schlabach with Baylor, McMurphy with Oklahoma State) in the College Football Playoff. Both have the Crimson Tide and Buckeyes playing each other in a rematch of last year’s Sugar Bowl and the Tigers playing the Big 12 champion.

Schlabach has Oklahoma State falling to the Alamo Bowl and McMurphy has Baylor still playing on New Year’s Day against Florida in the Sugar Bowl. Both have LSU making a New Year’s Day bowl game as well with the former having the Tigers in the Sugar Bowl and the latter having them in the Peach Bowl in a rematch of last year’s bowl game against Notre Dame.

It is also worth noting that both analysts have Houston making the New Year’s Six bowl as the Group of Five representative.

The season is still a month from being over, but it is fun to predict who will be going where when it comes to the bowl season. It is certainly going to be a fun time once mid-December rolls around.
