Alabama Crimson Tide running back Derrick Henry was an absolute beast this past week against the LSU Tigers. He completely outplayed LSU star running back Leonard Fournette and has reportedly overtaken Fournette as the front-runner for the Heisman Trophy.
During the LSU game, Henry carried the football 38 times for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Those numbers definitely made him rise in the rankings and perhaps even far enough to get into first place.
Throughout the 2015 season as a whole, Henry has totaled 1,254 yards and 17 touchdowns on 218 carries. Henry has been consistent with his production this season and Nick Saban has been lucky to have a workhorse like him leading the Alabama offense.
At 6-foot-3 and 242 pounds, Henry is one of the most intimidating presences that college football has seen in quite some time.
Henry is going to be a major player in the Heisman watch throughout the rest of the season. Alabama is going to continue feeding him the football and he will continue racking up the numbers.
Whether or not he can stay above Fournette is another question which will take some big games throughout the rest of the season.
