Central Florida Knights 7-foot-6 freshman center Tacko Fall has yet to be cleared by the NCAA and could be in danger of missing games. The Orlando Sentinel reported Fall’s status.
Fall’s academic clearance issues are a surprise to no one. He is an international student from Senegal who played his high school ball at Liberty Christian Prep in Orlando, and is viewed as a three-star recruit.
Thus, the NCAA is looking to cover all of the necessary bases, though the timing isn’t ideal.
And Knights fans are probably waiting with baited breath for Fall to be cleared, as he could potentially help bring the Knights to their first NCAA Tournament since 2005. His size makes it impossible for teams to practice and plan around him, and he is obviously a great rim protector and shot blocker.
Moreover, if he isn’t cleared soon, he could miss a key early season game against the UC-Irvine Anteaters, who also have a 7-foot-6 player in Mamadou N’Diaye.
Campus Sports will update Fall’s status as any new information becomes available.
UCF opens the season on the road against the Atlantic 10’s Davidson Wildcats on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
