Class of 2016 five-star small forward Mario Kegler, a Jackson, Mississippi native who currently plays at Virginia’s Oak Hill Academy, has committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported Kegler’s decision.
A 6-foot-8, 218 pound wing, Kegler picked Mississippi State over Maryland, Baylor, Indiana and Arizona State.
Bulldogs coach Ben Howland hasn’t even coached a game in Starkville yet, but he’s already establishing himself as an excellent recruiter. On top of Kegler, Howland has received commitments from four-star center Schnider Herard as well as four-star guards Tyson Carter, Lamar Peters and Eli Wright.
This season, the Bulldogs will have five-star freshman guard Malik Newman making an impact in the backcourt.
Needless to say, with the recruiting classes coming together the way they are, Mississippi State is not going to be a team to be taken lightly in the SEC this season or for the immediate future.
