Ex-Arizona star Michael Wright dies at age 35

|

The Arizona Wildcats family was struck by some tragic news on Wednesday, when it was reported that former basketball star Michael Wright, who played for the program from 1998-2001, had died at the age of 35.

Farragut High School coach Wolf Nelson passed the news along to the Chicago Tribune.

There is very little information on Wright’s death, but police have said he was a “victim” in the case which indicates there may have been foul play involved in his death.

Arizona expressed their condolensces on social media.

Wright eventually went on to be drafted by the New York Knicks, before spending time overseas in Poland and Turkey.

Campus Sports would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to Wright’s family and friends as they deal with this difficult time, and we will update the story with more information as it becomes available.
