C.J. Prosise took off for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish after star quarterback Malik Zaire went down with a season-ending ankle injury. He has been one of the best backs in the nation, but is now dealing with a concussion. According to a report, the Irish running back is questionable for this week’s Wake Forest game.
Notre Dame really needs their star running back this week, even though the Demon Deacons aren’t the best team.
Throughout the 2015 season for the Irish, Prosise has carried the football 148 times for 975 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has averaged 6.6 yards per carry which shows just how dominant he has been against opposing defenses.
At 6-foot-0 and 220 pounds, Prosise is the prototypical size for a senior running back. There is no doubt that he has put himself in a position to make it into the NFL next season with the big year that he has been having. Prosise has to feel blessed that everything came together like it did with Greg Bryant leaving Notre Dame which gave him the bulk of the carries.
Brian Kelly and the Irish are currently the No. 4 team in the nation with an 8-1 record. They are looking like a potential College Football Playoff pick, although they still have a tough game against currently ranked No. 8 Stanford on their schedule.
Prosise is going to be a big part of deciding whether or not they get into the playoff or whether they settle for another bowl game. Notre Dame definitely has the talent to contend for a title this season, but Prosise has to be healthy and on the field for them.
