The Miami Hurricanes have been searching for a new head coach since firing Al Golden a little less than a month ago. From the moment it was announced, people began throwing out big names to take over the head coaching job.
From current coaches at other prominent programs like Charlie Strong and Tommy Tuberville to former Miami coach Butch Davis, there have been a ton of names thrown around. It seems like one big time Miami booster wants a big name around the city of Miami to take over the job.
Mike Shula was the head coach at Alabama from 2003-2006 and is now the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. Gino DiMare, former baseball star at Miami, is now a booster for the Hurricanes who was very involved in Golden’s hiring and he is now pushing for Shula to be the next coach in south Florida.
Hiring Shula would probably be a good idea for the Hurricanes. He has done a great job with the Panthers the last few seasons and is the son of Don Shula, who is arguably still the biggest sports name in Miami.
