The NC State Wolfpack suffered a pretty big loss in their season opener Friday night as they fell to William & Mary in a 85-68 upset loss. The Wolfpack not only lost the game, but they also loss a pretty big part of their team as well.
According to College Basketball Talk, Jerry Henderson, who sat out last year after transferring from West Virginia, suffered an ankle injury in the first half of that game. The MRI revealed that he tore ligaments in his ankle and will miss 6-8 weeks recovering from the injury.
“Obviously, this is a big blow to Terry and to our team,” head coach Mark Gottfried said in the release. “I feel badly for Terry. He worked extremely hard to get ready for this year. Our team has to adjust and we will need some young players to step up.”
He was expected to be a big contributor for the team after the Wolfpack lost Trevor Lacey and Lalston Turner last year to graduation. The Wolfpack will next play the South Alabama Jaguars on Sunday.
