There are some teams that have won their respective divisions and others who have now been eliminated from playoff contention. Some teams are beginning to pull away in the CFP now, so let’s find out who is the top teams in the country.
1. Clemson (1)
Clemson struggled to start the game against Syracuse and showed a little bit of their human side. The Tigers still pulled out the win and they should finish the season undefeated with no problems.
2. Ohio State (2)
The Buckeyes never missed a beat being without J.T. Barrett and now he is back. The team looks nearly unbeatable right now. However, their schedule is about to get a lot tougher. Let’s see how they finish the year.
3. Alabama (3)
The Crimson Tide seem so comfortable right now and they should be able to lock up the SEC West in a few weeks against Auburn. This team has gotten hot at the right time and it looks like they will be In the CFP once again this year.
4. Notre Dame (6)
The Fighting Irish are playing tough right now and they could find themselves playing for a national championship if they keep winning right now. It doesn’t hurt that teams ahead of them keep losing or struggling either.
5. Oklahoma State (5)
The Cowboys struggled on Saturday, but still pulled out the win to remain the only undefeated team in the Big 12. They will have to win their last few games pretty impressively if they want to get into the CFP.
A lot of people are hating on the Hawkeyes right now, but if they can keep winning, there is no way the committee can overlook this team. The certainly deserve a spot in the CFP, especially if they get past the Big Ten East champion.
7. Oklahoma (15)
The Sooners probably aren’t going to get into the CFP, but they are certainly looking like they want to be there. This team is going to have to finish the season strong if they want any chance of playing for the national championship.
8. Florida (10)
The Gators have looked pretty weak the last few weeks, but if they finish out the season on a good note and win the SEC Championship, it would be hard to ignore this team when it comes to the CFP right now.
9. TCU (12)
The Horned Frogs bounced back from their first loss on Saturday, but it was a pretty tough game for them against one of the worst teams in the country. If Trevon Boykin is seriously hurt, this could be a tough road for this team.
10. Baylor (4)
The Bears lost a tough game against Oklahoma on Saturday and their chances of getting into the CFP are pretty much dead right now. It is going to be a tough run for this team the rest of the year.
11. Michigan (11)
The Wolverines just did pull out a win against Indiana on Saturday and it could be a good indicator of where this team ends up. They still have a chance of winning the Big Ten, but they must win out if they want to get into the game.
12. North Carolina (18)
The Tar Heels are one of the one-loss teams that nobody is talking about right now. Their offense is on fire and they have a good chance of finishing the year 11-1 and possibly getting into the CFP if they can pull off the upset over Clemson.
13. Michigan State (16)
The Spartans pulled off a win over Maryland and they have a chance to get into the conference championship game with a win over Ohio State this week. It will be tough, but they are going to have to play very well.
14. Houston (14)
The Cougars stayed undefeated, but just barely with a win over Memphis. It is very likely that this team will be playing in a New Year’s Six bowl game right now, but they need to keep winning games.
15. LSU (9)
The Tigers have hit their toughest part of their schedule and it is really hurting them right now. The team won’t be going to the SEC Championship game and they want to save their season and get to a good bowl before it gets even worse.
16. Florida State (23)
The Seminoles are looking to bounce back and finish the year strong. If they can pull off a win over Florida in a few weeks, they will certainly play a big spoiler.
17. Stanford (9)
The Cardinal ran into the buzzsaw that is the Oregon Ducks and they paid big time for it. If they don’t bounce back this week, they could be missing out on the conference championship game.
18. Ole Miss (21)
The Rebels are the only other team that can make the SEC Championship game out of the West aside from Alabama. Right now, all they can do is win out and hope that the Crimson Tide slip up against Auburn.
19. Navy (22)
The Midshipmen look like one of the best Group of Five teams in the country right now. If they can finish out the season strong, they may be looking at a New Year’s Day bowl game.
20. Utah (13)
The Utes fell after struggling with Arizona for most of the game. It could be a tough road for them as they try to lock up the PAC-12 South championship.
21. USC (25)
The Trojans are just one win and a Utah loss away from winning the PAC-12 South and getting into the conference championship once again. If this team is able to win and get in, they could be playing in the Rose Bowl in nearly a month.
22. Wisconsin (NR)
The Badgers have turned their season around and they have a chance to get to ten wins on the year. That would be huge after the way they started their season.
23. Northwestern (24)
The Wildcats have a chance of getting to ten wins and having a pretty good bowl game. If they keep winning, it would be a great way to end the year and build momentum for next year.
24. Arkansas (NR)
The Razorbacks are hot at the right time. They aren’t going to the SEC championship game right now, but it would be huge for this team to finish 8-4 and get to a good bowl after the dismal start to their season.
25. Oregon (NR)
The Ducks got a big win on Saturday over Stanford and are a win, and a Stanford loss, away from the PAC-12 Championship game. It is going to be an interesting finish to the season for this team.
