Gary Pinkel gives emotional speech after Mizzou beats BYU

It’s been a roller coaster season for the Missouri Tigers and head coach Gary Pinkel, so much so that Pinkel is stepping down at the end of the season due to health reasons. Thus, after his team beat BYU 20-16 last night, Pinkel was understandably emotional in his postgame locker room speech.

Video was captured and posted to Mizzou Network’s official Twitter.

It’s clear that Mizzou has built quite a strong bond with his team, who are clearly his second family. Stepping down can’t be an easy decision on his end, and it’s clearly killing him that he has to do so.

Hopefully, Mizzou can win its last two games against Tennessee and Arkansas to close out Pinkel’s career in Columbia on a positive note.
