The UCLA Bruins are 7-3 on the season and lost to Washington State last night by a final score of 31-27. It was a crushing loss for them and head coach Jim Mora was not happy with the referees at all. He had multiple issues with them throughout the game and a tweet from Bruin Report makes it clear how he felt.
Mora’s team had 13 penalties for 75 yards, while Washington State had nine penalties for 45 yards.
There were quite a few missed calls both ways, but obviously Mora thought that it was more one-sided for the Cougars. UCLA should be more embarrassed about the flaws in their play rather than worrying about how the referees could have lost them that game.
UCLA is fighting to get into a decent bowl game this season and came into last week as the No. 19 team in the country. That ranking will fall a bit after this loss. It will be intriguing to see where they end up being ranked, if they are ranked at all this coming week.
All of that being said, Mora needs to calm down a bit and focus on coming up with a better game plan and fixing his teams issues to get ready for the Utah Utes this coming week.
