WWE Hall of Famer Nick Bockwinkel dies at 80

The professional wrestling family has been saddened by the news of the passing of a great legend. Former AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Nick Bockwinkel died Sunday morning at the age of 80.

Bockwinkel was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. WWE COO Triple H and fellow Hall of Famer Edge were just two of the many people who remembered Bockwinkel upon hearing the news of his passing.

Nick Bockwinkle was one of the templates I built my ideas around. One of the forefathers & a truly classy man. My condolences to his family

Bockwinkel was a four-time AWA Champion and was most famous for defeating Verne Gagne. Gagne, a Hall of Famer himself, was part owner of the AWA and had a seven-year reign at AWA Champion at the time of Bockwinkel’s shocking victory.

Campus Sports would like to send their condolences to Bockwinkel’s family.
