Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney said that you don't "ever say never" to taking the Alabama head coaching job if it's offered.

Dabo Swinney: ‘You don’t ever say never to ‘Bama job’

|

Dabo Swinney is one of the best head coaches in college football and the Clemson Tigers are currently ranked No. 1 in the nation. He is very happy with his current job and loved by his players, but he made it clear that he would have to consider the Alabama Crimson Tide head coaching job if it was offered to him.

To be exact, Swinney talked to the media and offered some very interesting quotes about the Alabama job.

“You don’t ever say never. You don’t ever know what the circumstances would be at any given time,” Swinney was quoted as saying. “First of all, Alabama may never, ever call me and I would never have a problem with that. They’ve got to do what they’ve got to do. My deal is to be great where I’m at. I had opportunities to leave Alabama. I had opportunities to leave Clemson. But I’ve just never been that guy about the next job. I’m about the job I’ve got.”

Nick Saban is still the head coach of the Crimson Tide, but there have been rumors that he could consider leaving for an NFL job. If that does end up being the case, Swinney could be a top candidate to replace him. He played for Alabama during his collegiate career as a wide receiver and is from Birmingham.

Leaving Clemson would not be an easy decision for him to make, especially if the Tigers are able to win a title this season.

That being said, never saying never to the Alabama job is very good advice. It is one of the most historically great coaching jobs and a guy like Swinney could take his legacy to the next level,

Do you think Swinney would be a realistic replacement in Tuscaloosa? Sounds off in the comments section below.
