Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has dropped a major hint regarding his return to the octagon.

Jon Jones hints at UFC return in April

It’s been quite a while since fans have seen Jon Jones step inside the UFC octagon, but that hiatus could be ending sooner than we think.

In a recent post on Instagram (private), Jones posted a photo of himself looking in the best shape that he’s ever been in. In addition, he mentioned a specific date as to when he’ll “be at his best.”

That date, April 23, 2016. That’s the night of UFC 198, an event that the MMA organization has currently scheduled for Madison Square Garden.

Jones hasn’t fought since defeating Daniel Cormier in January. He was then indefinitely suspended back in April after a hit-and-run accident as well as other personal problems.

It’s fully expected that Jones and Cormier will face off in the former light heavyweight champion’s return fight. However, Cormier has stated that he doesn’t want that fight to happen in the state of New York.

Jones is from Irondequoit, NY, a suburb of Rochester. Because of this, it’s a guarantee that Jones would have a number of hometown supporters in attendance for any fight that happens in the state, no matter where it is held.

There has been no official announcement of a Jones return bout. But with this latest tease, one has to expect something to come in the very near future and the expectation is that it will come against Daniel Cormier at Madison Square Garden.
