NIU holds longest November winning streak

||

When the weather outside is frightful and the football is so delightful, the Northern Illinois Huskies are one of the best teams in the FBS. Wednesday night, the Huskies defeated the Western Michigan Broncos, 27-19, adding onto their already impressive win streak.

According to MLive.com, the Huskies’ win was the ninth straight over the Broncos which is already impressive enough.

The more impressive stat is that they have now won 22 straight games in the month of November.

NIU’s win streak began in 2010, ironically enough by beating Toledo, the same team they beat to open the month of November this year. Their last loss in the turkey month came on November 26, 2009 when they fell to Central Michigan 45-31.

The Huskies’ win eliminated the Broncos from MAC West championship contention. If the Huskies beat Ohio next week, they will move on to the MAC Championship game for the sixth straight year and would face Bowling Green in the game for the third straight year.

The Rockets can win the division with a win over the Broncos and an NIU loss.
