Texas’ leading rusher to undergo surgery

Texas head football coach Charlie Strong has confirmed that D’Onta Foreman will undergo surgery Thursday to repair a broken finger on his right hand.  The running back sustained the broken pinkie in the loss to West Virginia this past weekend.

Thus far Foreman’s status for the Longhorns’ matchup with Texas Tech Saturday is uncertain.

“We just don’t know the extent of the injury,” Strong said. “We’re not sure if he’ll be able to carry a football, at least not yet.”

Foreman is Texas’ leading rusher with 681 yards while also leading the team with five rushing touchdowns.

Adding insult to injury is the fact that Texas’ second leading rusher Johnathan Gray is listed as day-to-day after sustaining a foot injury against West Virginia. Gray has 489 rushing yards this season.
