In what sounds like a headline made for the gossip mags, Swedish underwear brand Frigo is actually alleging that the two stars are indeed, beefin’.
TMZ first reported comments from the company’s CEO, Mathias Ingvarsson, saying that “The Captain” Derek Jeter was backing out an agreement to market the product when he found out 50 Cent was involved.
In the company’s claim, Jeter was opposed to the rapper’s involvement because it would make it too “urban.” Frigo is suing Jeter for $5 million for breach of contract.
On Thursday Jeter released a statement denying the allegations.
“As a major investor, current stockholder and lender to the Company, I am disgusted by [Company CEO Mathias] Ingvarsson’s decision to make these false allegations against me in the press, instead of attempting to work out our business dispute in private. … I facilitated the introductory meeting between 50 Cent and the company, so it makes absolutely no sense that I would object to 50 Cent being a Frigo brand ambassador or think that 50 Cent is ‘too urban’ for the brand,” the statement read.
50 posted a photo of Jeter on his Instagram while renouncing his support of the Yankees. He has since deleted the post.
Maybe Jeter was just offended by his lack of baseball skills?
