Report: North Carolina G Marcus Paige won’t play vs. UNI

North Carolina Tar Heels star guard Marcus Paige was hoping to return from a broken bone in his non-shooting hand for the opportunity to enjoy his homecoming in Iowa, but that will not take place.

On Friday, CBS’ Gary Parrish reported that Paige has been ruled out for Saturday’s game against Northern Iowa.

It was always unlikely. Still, it’s worth noting, UNC’s Marcus Paige will not play at UNI tomorrow, I’m told. Hand just isn’t ready.

The good news, however, is that Paige seems to be ahead of schedule.

After the initial expectation was that Paige would be out of action for three to four weeks, Paige was able to join the team’s shootaround on Wednesday. While he won’t get to participate in the Iowa homecoming, we could see Paige back on the court soon.

UNC and Northern Iowa are set to tip-off at 2 p.m. E.T. Saturday.
