Louisville freshman forward Deng Adel sprained his knee in practice on Friday and will be sidelined for the immediate future. Cardinals coach Rick Pitino made the announcement tonight, which was reported by Raphielle Johnson of NBC Sports’ College Basketball Talk.
Adel will undergo an MRI in the near future to determine the severity of his sprain. The four-star recruit from Australia is averaging 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds over 17 minutes per game this season. Pitino offered more on the injury.
“I think he will probably sit out the next game and hopefully be ready by Thanksgiving,” Pitino said.
Louisville fans had better hope that Pitino is right. Adel is a fine slashing forward and though he’s raw as a talent, his ceiling is high and he has the potential to develop into a key member of the team this season.
