The Memphis Tigers have been one of the better teams in the Group of Five this year. The team started off 8-0, including a big upset win over Ole Miss, and have one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Paxton Lynch.
The school knows that head coach Justin Fuente is going to be one of the hottest names in the vast head coaching market this year. According to Yahoo Sports, the school is going all to keep Fuente around for a few more seasons.
“I love coach Fuente and we’ve been working tirelessly to make sure we can keep him,” athletic director Tom Bowen told the Appeal. “We made him an extraordinary offer to make sure he’s going to be the coach of the University of Memphis for a very long time.”
“I was sincerely humbled by the university’s offer to step up,” Fuente told the Commercial Appeal in Memphis. “In addition, this administration realizes how important the staff is to me and is trying to step up substantially for our coaching staff.”
