Following Saturday afternoon’s loss to the Michigan State Spartans, Ohio State Buckeyes running back Ezekiel Elliott used his post-game interview to announce he was declaring for the NFL Draft and to blast the team’s coaching staff.
Elliot said the “coaching staff didn’t put [Ohio State] in position to win and “that’s a team we should beat.”
It was clear that Elliott was very emotional when he was speaking to reporters — even saying that there was no way he would ever come back to play at The Shoe — but he received his fair share of criticism for the rant.
One of the analysts who was very vocal in criticizing the Buckeyes star was CBS Sports college basketball analyst Doug Gottlieb, who said Elliott should be embarrassed.
It is certainly an interesting take, but there are plenty of people who are on Gottlieb’s side.
If there is one thing we can all agree on, it is that Elliott was emotional and a tad immature. He needs to do better at controlling his emotions, but he is still a young kid who just came off of the biggest loss of his career.
Lessons can be learned from this and hopefully Elliott listens to the criticism to make the most of this situation.
