To say that Saturday’s results led to potential chaos in the College Football Playoff landscape would be an understatement.
Not only did Ohio State fall to Michigan State at the last possible second, but Notre Dame’s performance against Boston College looked nothing like a playoff team. Because of that, the playoff rankings could be shaken up in a big way.
ESPN’s Danny Kanell decided to take his shot at setting the playoff field after this week, and it includes a surprising team in the top two.
That’s right, Iowa is in the top two. And it’s only fair as the Hawkeyes are the only other unbeaten team aside from the Clemson Tigers. Because of this, Kanell believes an unbeaten team should certainly be above a one-loss squad. Needless to say, his picks have caused a little bit of backlash…mainly from SEC fans.
Iowa has a game against Nebraska next week before the Big 10 Championship Game. Should they win both, there is no doubt that the Hawkeyes will find themselves inside the final playoff field. The only question is where.
The updated playoff rankings will be released on Monday.
