Les Miles has been seeing rumors swirling about his job with the LSU Tigers over the past couple of weeks. As LSU has continued struggling and have lost three straight, there are rumblings that his job could be in jeopardy.
It doesn’t seem like a coach with his name and ability would be let go, but it appears possible.
One thing that has been considered a potential hangup to firing him is the $15 million contract buyout price that it would take to get rid of him. Despite that price, a report from College Football Talk states that the school will not allow that price to sway them away from moving on from him.
Miles is without question one of the better head coaches in college football, but he may very well have lost the LSU locker room. There is absolutely no excuse that the Tigers have fallen in three straight games, especially with the talent that they have on their roster. Leonard Fournette’s presence alone should have won them one of those three games.
That being said, it will be very intriguing to see what LSU decides to do with this situation.
Firing Miles would force LSU to go out and find another big name to replace him. There are a few different candidates that would make sense, but it is never easy moving on from coaches. Miles has meant so much to the program that moving on could break up some of the team and recruits that they currently have.
Expect to hear plenty more about Miles losing his job over the next couple of weeks and don’t be surprised to see LSU let him go.
