Virginia Tech players carry Frank Beamer off field in final home game

The Virginia Tech Hokies played their final game at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field in Blacksburg on Saturday under head coach Frank Beamer. Unfortunately, the North Carolina Tar Heels spoiled that celebration by upending the Hokies, 30-27.

However, that didn’t stop Virginia Tech from celebrating Beamer, who has been a member of the team’s coaching staff since 1987.

Following the game, the Hokies players provided their coach with a special moment by hoisting him on their shoulders and carrying him off the field. Beamer was all smiles as the players shared their appreciation for the coach who has done so much for the program.

ESPN shared the video.

Beamer finishes his coaching career with an overall record of 276–138–4.

It is hard to imagine the Hokies without Beamer at the helm, but they will have to move on to a new era.
