Memphis head coach Justin Fuente is one of the biggest names in the coaching cycle right now. His name has been tossed around with a ton of big name programs and it looks like he could be hearing some of the teams’ offers.
According to Coaching Search, Fuente has been very honest with the way he handles rumors of him going somewhere else. He displayed the same attitude as last year when his name was brought up in the coaching market.
“I would say there’s certainly no decision to be made and no decision has been made about anything,” he said. “I’m concerned about trying to beat SMU. If there is an opportunity where there are decision to be made, then we’ll take in all the information and try to make the best decision possible.
“Right now, it’s premature to say anything is going to or not going to happen, just because there’s no premise for a decision to be made yet.”
In the last two seasons, Fuente has led the Tigers to an 18-6 record and an AAC Championship in 2014. They have a very good chance of getting to ten wins once again.
It also doesn’t hurt that Fuente has recruited pretty well the last few years too. His quarterback Paxton Lynch is likely going to be a top ten pick in the NFL Draft next year.
