For the last few weeks, there have been rumors running rampant that LSU head coach Les Miles would be fired at some point this season after the Tigers dropped three straight games following a 7-0 start.
Miles has yet to be fired, but the Tigers play their final game of the regular season on Saturday as they host Texas A&M.
Miles has said all week that he has “no idea” what his status with the team is at this point. According to SI.com, Miles talked about the rumors and used the one word you never want to hear if you are a football fan.
“Certainly we’ve run into distractions before, but this seems to be a pretty prevailing and evident distraction,” Miles said.
Some would say that Miles may be using this an excuse for his team’s struggles as of late, but the rumors weren’t sparked until a few days before their game against the Ole Miss Rebels last week. However, if this has been as big of a distraction as Miles says, this certainly doesn’t bode well for their chances this weekend.
It has already been said that Miles could be fired following the Tigers’ game on Saturday, no matter the outcome, so they will need to forget any distractions immediately.
The Tigers and Aggies take the field on Saturday in Baton Rouge at 7:30 p.m. EST and it will be televised on SEC Network.
