Report: Rob Ryan considered for Tulane head coaching job

Rob Ryan has had an up and down career as a defensive coordinator in the NFL, with his most recent stint ending earlier this season after being fired by the New Orleans Saints.

However, he still appears to be in the mix for a handful of jobs — including one of the head coaching variety.

According to a report on Thanksgiving Day, Ryan is being considered for the head coaching job with the Tulane Green Wave, who are expected to fire head coach Curtis Johnson after Friday’s meeting with Tulsa.

I was informed by Green Wave booster "if Barbara Burke becomes Tulane AD, Rob Ryan is a candidate to become head coach."@footballscoop

Ryan has previous college coaching experience with Oklahoma Stat, Western Kentucky, Ohio State, Tennessee State and Hutchinson Community College.

However, he has not coached at that level since the late 1990s.

It will certainly be interesting to see if Ryan becomes a head coach at Tulane, but one thing is for sure: he would bring plenty of excitement and intrigue to a program that would benefit from it.
