Benson Henderson expected to test free agency after UFC Fight Night 78

Benson Henderson is set to fight Jorge Masvidal in a welterweight bout at UFC Fight Night 78. This is his last fight on his current UFC contract and the former lightweight champion is expected to test free agency after this fight.

Many believe that Henderson will be contacted by Bellator MMA to see if he is interested in jumping ship.

Henderson (22-5) is currently on a one-fight winning streak. In his last five bouts, he’s 3-2 He beat Josh Thomson at UFC on FOX 10 by split decision and Rustam Khabilov at UFC Fight Night 42 by fourth round rear-naked choke. He lost the lightweight title to Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 49 by first round KO, then lost to Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 59 by unanimous decision. He beat Brandon Thatch at UFC Fight Night 60 by fourth round rear-naked choke in his welterweight debut.

The former 155-pound champion has expressed interest in the UFC’s rival because of money. Not because they would pay him more, but because he would make more money by sponsorship revenue.

UFC Fight Night 79 takes place on November 28, 2015, at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, South Korea. The entire event will air on UFC Fight Pass.
