When your a successful head coach at the mid-major level, it’s only a matter of time before a bigger program comes knocking at your door. So is the case with Toledo Rockets coach Matt Campbell.
According to Scott Roussel of Football Scoop, Campbell is expected to interview for the open job with the Tigers “soon”.
“Per sources, Toledo head coach Matt Campbell is expected to interview and is considered a strong candidate. Sources tell FootballScoop that Campbell, who is quite content at Toledo, would accept the opportunity to become the next head coach at Missouri if offered, adding, “and he’d be the exact leader that place needs. He’s a team builder. Strong personality that people gravitate towards.””
Campbell has taken his Rockets to one of the Top 25 teams in the country while playing in the MAC. At just 35 years old, he’s one of the youngest head coaches in the game, but has been very successful in his young career.
Currently, his Rockets are 9-1 on the season and has an overall record of 35-15 in just under four seasons at Toledo. He also lead his team to a win in the GoDaddy Bowl last season over Arkansas State.
