Campus Sports top 25 rankings: Week 14

It’s conference championship week. Only a few teams will play this week, but a few teams that don’t will be hoping for some major upsets to help their chances for the College Football Playoff.

1. Clemson (1)

Clemson finishes 12-0 for the first time in school history. Now they have to get past North Carolina this week in the ACC Championship game.

2. Alabama (2)

The Crimson Tide dominated Auburn and finally clinched the SEC West. They should feel much better about their chances against Florida this week.

3. Oklahoma (4)

The Sooners absolutely dominated the Oklahoma State Cowboys. They likely punched their ticket in the CFP with their big win.

4. Iowa (5)

The Hawkeyes are 12-0 for the first time in school history. It will be hard for the voters to keep them out of the CFP if they win the Big Ten.

5. Michigan State (6)

The Spartans had no trouble with Penn State and they will be playing for the conference championship. Win and they will likely be in the CFP.

6. Ohio State (9)

The Buckeyes need a lot of help to get into the CFP. They are likely going to be in a New Year’s Six bowl game, but they certainly want more.

7. North Carolina (11)

The Tar Heels feel disrespected. They won’t be this high in the CFP rankings, but if they beat Clemson, it will be hard to pass this team up.

8. Stanford (13)

The Cardinal pulled off a huge win over Notre Dame and they will need to be absolutely dominant in the PAC-12 title game to help their chances for the CFP.

9. Notre Dame (4)

The Irish are now just hoping for a ton of chaos. They will likely be in a bowl game on New Year’s Day or Eve.

10. Florida State (14)

The Seminoles pulled off a dominant win over Florida. They won’t be playing for a national championship, but I’d expect this team to be a great bowl game.

11.TCU (16)

The Horned Frogs got a huge win over Baylor and they now have ten wins going into the bowl season.

12. Baylor (7)

The Bears likely just played their way out of a New Year’s Six bowl appearance. It will be hard to convince the voters now, but they will certainly take a tenth win next week.

13. Michigan (8)

The Wolverines are fighting for a New Year’s Day bowl game. However, 9 and possibly 10 wins is a very successful season.

14. Ole Miss (17)

The Rebels dominated the Bulldogs in the Egg Bowl. They will now use that momentum to get into a great bowl game.

15. Florida (10)

The Gators have looked terrible this last month of the season. December could be better for them, but it doesn’t look good right now.

16. Oregon (18)

The Ducks turned their season around and are now very close to a ten-win season.

17. Northwestern (19)

The Wildcats have gotten to ten wins once again and they are looking to turn that into 11 with a big bowl game coming up.

18. Oklahoma State (12)

The Cowboys may be able to get into a New Year’s Six bowl game, but that is VERY unlikely right now.

19. Houston (20)

The Cougars clinched the first ever AAC West division championship and looked dominant doing so. They should find themselves in a New Year’s Six bowl game.

20. Navy (15)

The Midshipmen still have one more game and they have nothing to be ashamed of. They still have a shot at a ten-win season and a big bowl game coming up.

21. Temple (22)

The Owls are officially playing for a conference championship, which is unheard of after the year they had in 2014. Win and they will be playing in a New Year’s Six bowl game.

22. Utah (21)

The Utes are just hoping for a big bowl game right now. Ten wins will help build for the future for sure.

23. LSU (24)

The Tigers knew they needed to win for Les Miles and they did just that. Miles will be with them for the bowl game and into the future, so they are certainly excited for that.

24. USC (NR)

The Trojans are back in the conference championship game, which is a huge shocker after the way their season started. They have a ton of momentum right now.

25. Georgia (NR)

The Bulldogs could be looking at a ten-win season, which would certainly save Mark Richt’s job into the future.

Fell out of rankings: Mississippi State (21), UCLA (25)
