Current, former Georgia players show support after Mark Richt’s departure

On Sunday morning, Georgia Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt sent a text message to his players saying the team’s bowl game would be his final game as Bulldogs head coach.

Georgia released a statement shortly after the news surfaced, saying Richt and the university mutually agreed that he will step down.

Following the news — which comes after the Bulldogs finished the regular season with a 9-3 record and win over in-state rival Georgia Tech — came as a surprise to many players and fans.

Despite rumors that were circulating in previous weeks, it appeared that Richt had saved his job.

However, all parties involved decided otherwise and Richt will now move on as the Bulldogs look for a new football coach for the first time since 2001.

After the news broke, a number of current and former Bulldogs took to social media to share their thoughts on the news, with many thanking Richt for all he has done for them as players and young men.
