The Walter Camp Players of the Week have been named, and went to players that turned in big performances in big wins for their schools.
On offense, Derrick Henry predictably won the honor after turning in a one touchdown, 271-yard performance in the Iron Bowl. No.2 Alabama punched its ticket to the SEC Championship after beating rival Auburn 29-13. Of ‘Bama’s 76 offensive snaps, Henry ran the ball a whopping 46 times, a school record.
In a rainy battle against Baylor, TCU’s Ty Summers was all over the field for the Horned Frogs. Summers tallied 23 tackles in the game, including 1.5 for loss. No tackle bigger than the stop he made at the line of scrimmage on fourth down to dash Baylor’s hopes of prolonging their drive in double overtime. TCU effectively cut any Baylor hope of a Big 12 Championship and won in double overtime, 28-21.
Congratulations to both, best of luck in their upcoming games.
