Mark Richt and the Georgia Bulldogs have decided to part ways this afternoon and the program will be searching aggressively for a new coach to bring on board. There is one coaching candidate in particular that is already being viewed as the front-runner to land the job. Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart is reportedly already viewed as the top candidate for the Georgia job.
Georgia grad/Bama DC Kirby Smart, who has been S Carolina's radar, will be a prime candidate. Interested to see how this affects S.C. search

FootballScoop took to their Twitter account to add both Dan Mullen and Jimbo Fisher into the list of potential replacement as well.
I’d be pretty surprised if the new head coach at Georgia isn’t Kirby Smart, Dan Mullen or Jimbo Fisher https://t.co/1LarjqNpzo

Looking deeper at Smart, he could be exactly what the Bulldogs need to move past Richt. Replacing a coaching legend at a school isn’t easy, but Smart has close ties to the school and has proven himself as one of the top coaching candidates in college football during his tenure with the Crimson Tide.
Smart played defensive back for the Bulldogs during his collegiate career, which makes him an even more intriguing option.
Georgia can have their pick of most coordinators, but they could also lure a big name current coach as well. If they aren’t able to get Fisher or Mullen, Smart might be the best option for them. They need a coach that will be around long-term and can help rebuild the program and change things up from the Richt era.
