On Sunday, Rutgers relieved both head coach Kyle Flood and Athletic Director Julie Hermann. In a meeting to let the players know about the move, school President Robert Barchi told players that Patrick Hobbs will be the new Athletic Director.
As far as the coach is concerned, Barchi told the players that hire will come “quickly”.
Money will apparently not be an issue when it comes to finding the best coach possible for the program. Whether money can convince a high-level coach to the team remains to be seen, but at least there is an attempt to improve there.
The Scarlet Knights have been in the Big Ten for the last two seasons, and are missing out on the postseason for just the second time in the last 10 years. If Rutgers hopes to compete in the conference, then finding a coach to come in and recruit some great talent is going to be more important than anything else.
Despite saying a hire will be made quick, there is no official timetable on a move. The future of the assistants’ will be decided by the next coach.
