The awards for the college football season have been narrowed down to finalists for the most part and they will be handed out in just a few weeks. The last award to have its finalists revealed was the Walter Camp Award and they have now been announced.
According to College Football Talk, Alabama running back Derrick Henry is leading the candidates for the award this year. Three of the other four finalists weren’t big surprises with Deshaun Watson, Christian McCaffrey and Baker Mayfield all being listed as candidates.
However, Iowa cornerback Desmond King also was named a finalist which is strange considering the Walter Camp Award is usually given out to offensive players and the winner usually is a candidate for the Heisman Trophy as well.
This year’s winner will be announced on December 10.
It will be awarded at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta on December 11.
