Louisville quarterback Will Gardner will transfer to another program following his graduation this month, per a tweet from Steve Jones of The Courier-Journal.
“He’s just looking for a new home for next year, a new place to play,” Glenn Gardner, Will’s father, said. “He’s just going to transfer, going to move on in life.”
A former three-star recruit from southern Georgia, Gardner sat out this season recovering from a torn ACL. Louisville saw three different quarterbacks in action and has two more coming in as freshman next year.
Given how Gardner impressed in his one full season, throwing for 1,669 yards, 12 touchdowns and just three interceptions before getting hurt against Boston College last season, there should be plenty of interest from schools in need of a transitional quarterback next season.
As a graduate transfer, Gardner will not have to sit out a year.
