With less than two weeks until the highly anticipated battle between Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo at UFC 194, the verbal jabs are starting to pick up.
During an interview with Ireland’s The 42, SBG Ireland head coach John Kavanagh compared McGregor to The Matrix’s main character Neo. Kavanagh claims that McGregor has the ability to study what Aldo does, and then work around it to his advantage.
“He’ll probably try to slow the pace down and initiate some grappling exchanges,” Kavanagh said in the interview about Aldo’s fight strategy. “However, with Conor’s fight IQ and the manner in which he can read situations, even if Aldo comes out with a completely new style and approach, it won’t take Conor long to work it out. It’s almost like The Matrix, in that he sees a new problem which is being presented, downloads the correct response from his brain and then executes the plan.”
Kavanagh also claims that he doesn’t see the fight lasting more than two rounds, at most. He did add that he can see it being finished within the first minute.
Aldo vs. McGregor takes place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on December 12.
