Minnesota punter creates own award

The way a person deals with defeat says a lot about their character. For Minnesota punter Peter Mortell, his actions show that he can take being passed over not only in stride, but by having a little fun as well.

After finishing third in all-conference voting for punters, Mortell decided that he wasn’t going to end the season empty handed. Mortell awarded himself the “Holder of the Year” trophy after helping his team hit 15 of their 19 field goal attempts thanks to great, laces out holding. Hopefully, this inspires other place holders out there that you can be as successful as you want, even if others won’t recognize you.

Mortell even had a pretty impressive graphic made up for the announcement of his incredible achievement. Check it out below.

"Your hands are too slow" they said.
"Your cadence has no rhythm" they said. This one's for the state of Minnesota. pic.twitter.com/HkgGRK0aL1
