The Virginia Cavaliers are pretty desperate for a new head coach right now and it looks like they shooting for the moon right now. It was first reported by ESPN’s Mark Schlabach that former Georgia head coach was among the names interviewing for the job.
According to Newsplex, Richt was in Charlottesville on Wednesday and met with officials at Virginia. Richt was also rumored to be interviewing with his Alma Mater, Miami, for their opening job as well.
Richt spent 15 seasons at Georgia and amassed a 145-51 record with the team. Virginia’s came open when they fired Mike London who went 27-46 in six seasons with the team.
It would certainly be ironic for Richt to take the job at Virginia. Earlier this year, quarterback Greyson Lambert transferred from Virginia to Georgia and his starting job has fluctuated all season long.
