The Sun Belt conference has never really gotten a lot of respect in the world of college football. Every year, the conference produces some great teams and right now, it has a chance to have three teams with at least nine wins on the year.
Arkansas State has won the Sun Belt conference for the fourth time in five years, while Appalachian State and Georgia Southern will likely finish second and third respectively this weekend. According to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy all three of those teams have accepted bowl invitations.

This is the Red Wolves’ fourth New Orleans Bowl appearance in the last five years. For the Eagles and Mountaineers, this is their first ever bowl appearance.
The Eagles went 8-0 in the Sun Belt last year and would have made the New Orleans Bowl, but weren’t eligible since it was their first year in the FBS. The Mountaineers also were ineligible from making a bowl despite going 7-5 last year and have a chance to get to ten wins on Saturday.
Both Georgia State and South Alabama are 5-6 and play the Eagles and Mountaineers respectively. If they both win, they will make bowl games as well this year.
