It only took four seasons, but the Green Bay Packers are on the successful end of a Hail Mary play at the end of a game.
After trailing by as much as 20-0, the Packers outscored the Lions 27-3 over the final quarter and a half to pull out the improbably win. Of course, it’s the final play that everyone is talking about.
While scrambling away from pressure, quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw the ball over 60 yards in the air to the end zone. Tight end Richard Rodgers jumped up and managed to come down with the ball for the game-winning score. Richard Rodgers was in front of everyone in the endzone, giving him an easy chance at the ball.
The final play was set up by a facemask penalty on Detroit’s Devin Taylor on 3rd and 10 that put the ball at the Green Bay 39. The win pushed the Packers to 8-4 on the season, keeping their hopes for the NFC North division crown alive. The Lions, on the other hand, fall to 4-8, and are all but eliminated from the playoffs.
Not a bad way to celebrate your 32nd birthday if you’re Aaron Rodgers.
