Scout says it’s not a good time to need a QB in the 2016 NFL Draft

An NFC scout recently told, “I’d hate to be a team in need of a quarterback. The best two in this draft might end up being from Memphis and North Dakota State and that ought to scare the (expletive) out of you. It takes some courage to turn that card in.”

One of the quarterbacks that the scout is referring to, North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz,  will be on full display in January’s Senior Bowl.

The other, Memphis’ Paxton Lynch, is still a junior but expected by many to forego his final year of eligibility and enter this year’s draft. Lynch is widely regarded as a potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft if he does declare.

Both are impressive, even if they aren’t playing at a big program. But it is a rarity that no one is high on any of the quarterbacks from the traditional powers.

I guess what’s true at the end of the regular season is true for the draft, there’s always next year.
