The Clemson Tigers clinched the ACC Atlantic division a lot earlier than the North Carolina Tar Heels won the ACC Coastal division championship. This gave their fans the chance to buy tickets to the championship game in Charlotte earlier and they certainly didn’t disappoint.
According to the Charlotte Observer, 50,000 of the 73,000 tickets sold were to Clemson fans. This mean that despite the game being in North Carolina, Bank of America Stadium will be flooded with orange on Saturday.
“We don’t have anything scientific, but we’re guessing that about two-thirds of the stadium – if not more – will be filled with Clemson fans,” said Miller Yoho, communications director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation, the game’s local organizing committee for the ACC. “Because Clemson clinched 14 days earlier, that’s 14 days of sales that was primarily Clemson.”
The site also said the the game sold out very quickly with the allotted Clemson tickets selling out within an hour. This game is going to be a big deal since the winner will likely be representing the conference in the College Football Playoff.
