The Texas Longhorns need a lot of help if they are going to get into a bowl game this year, but they must first help themselves. They play the explosive Baylor Bears on Saturday and that is certainly going to be a difficult task especially already being a 21-point underdog.
According to College Football Talk, the Longhorns will be down two defensive starters in their game against the Bears. Thursday night, Charlie Strong confirmed that linebacker Malik Jefferson and defensive back Dylan Haines would not play in Saturday’s game while dealing with injuries.
Jefferson has started nine games for the Longhorns and is second on the team in tackles as a freshman. Haines has started all 11 games for the team and leads the team in interceptions with five this year.
The Longhorns are guaranteed to finish under .500 in the regular season for the second time in six years, but they haven’t won just four games since 1997, John Mackovic’s final season with the team.
The Bears and Longhorns kick off at 12 noon EST on Saturday and the game will televise on ESPN.
