Troy Aikman: Cam Newton changing the way we view the QB position

Hall of Fame quarterback and Dallas Cowboys legend Troy Aikman recently sat down with Bleacher Report to discuss a myriad of topics related to football, especially quarterbacks.

When talking about Cam Newton, Aikman had nothing but praise for the NFL MVP leader.

“Cam is really changing how we view the quarterback position,” Aikman said. “We’ve seen great running quarterbacks before, and he’s as good, if not better, than any of them. We’ve never really seen before a guy that’s his size, who can run that fast and throw the football like he can.”

Aikman agreed with many that Newton is in the MVP conversation, along with New England Patriots signal-caller Tom Brady and Houston Texans juggernaut J.J. Watt.

Although he did heed caution to Newton and Panthers, saying, “they haven’t done anything yet.”

If anyone would know it’s him, a three-time Super Bowl winner.

In his conversation he touched on other topics as well, such as safety concerns being the greatest threat to the sport and the decline in quality football being played.
