Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart may be in line to succeed Mark Richt at Georgia, but he won’t take on that responsibility until after Alabama’s trip through the upcoming College Football Playoff is over.
Smart himself has not confirmed that, but Alabama defensive back Cyrus Jones broke the news to Jeff Schultz of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
That’s certainly noble of Smart, as he has helped turn Alabama’s defense into a near-unstoppable force this season. Yes, the Georgia job is his and beyond appealing, not to mention a huge step forward career-wise, but how can he leave the Crimson Tide when they’re on the cusp of winning a fourth championship under coach Nick Saban?
As was mentioned before, Smart has not confirmed this, but stay tuned to Campus Sports for if/when he does!
