The Pittsburgh Steelers absolutely shellacked the Indianapolis Colts last night 45-10, posting 522 yards of offense in the process, and nobody seemed happier about it than quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Speaking to reporters after the game, including Ron Cook of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Roethlisberger further elaborated on his team’s performance.
“I told guys before the game, ‘Just go out and have fun. When you come back in here, you should have a bunch of texts on your phone saying that it looked like you guys had fun. I want the world to see the Pittsburgh Steelers having fun and kicking butt,’ ” Roethlisberger recalled.
“I thought it looked that way tonight.”
The win pushed Pittsburgh’s record to 7-5 on the year and keeps the team in the AFC Wild Card picture, with the Cincinnati Bengals still at the top of the AFC North.
Needless to say, with the team averaging 26 points per game, Roethlisberger can likely look forward to more solid performances from his team going forward and, hopefully, a trip to the playoffs.
Pittsburgh next takes on Cincinnati at Paul Brown Stadium on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
