Video: High School referee clotheslines WR, causes fumble

Sometimes, football referees cause big blunders on the field. They will on occasion get in a player’s way and cause him to miss a pass or, like earlier this year, they will drop a ball when trying to set it up for a last second play.

What happened to this high school player in a state playoff semifinal game may be one of the worst blunders we have seen in a long while.

One player, Hudson Hamill t Darien High School in Connecticut, caught a pass and then ran into a referee. Then, he was viciously clotheslined by the official.

It wasn’t just a routine mess up though as Hamill couldn’t hold onto the ball and the other team recovered a fumble.

Luckily for Hamill and his team, that was probably the only thing that slowed them down. They went on to win the game and Hamill caught three touchdown’s on the night.
