4-star QB had ‘great’ in-home visit with Will Muschamp

Class of 2016 four-star quarterback Brandon McIlwain still appears committed to South Carolina despite Steve Spurrier’s retirement and subsequent hiring of Will Muschamp. Why?

Well, according to a tweet from Brandi Mills of 247 Sports, Muschamp and his staff had an in-home visit with McIlwain yesterday and even stayed for a meal!

But though McIlwain remains committed to the Gamecocks, his status there is far from certain. A native of Newtown, Pennsylvania, in the Philadelphia area, McIlwain met with Penn State coach James Franklin last week and could also enter the MLB Draft, where he is considered a top prospect.

Just the same, though there are concerns about how well the defense-oriented Muschamp can coach an offense, especially after the highly-touted Jeff Driskel didn’t pan out while Muschamp was at Florida, the fact that this in-home visit went well certainly seems like a good sign.
